Sandhaven Caravan Park is a popular holiday park found in the north east coastal town of South Shields. The park is five-star rated and has hardstanding pitches for small motorhomes and touring caravans, as well as offering a luxurious selection of holiday homes for hire and for sale. Tents are not allowed.This park sits on the edge of the beach and offers great views along the coast and out across the North Sea. Sandhaven Caravan Park is open from the beginning of March until the end of November each year. This is a dog friendly campsite, but the park owners request that owners keep their dogs under control and on a lead, and that they clean up after them. In addition, after 11pm, the park owners ask that guests keep noise levels to a minimum so that everyone can enjoy a good night's sleep.All of the static caravans available for hire or purchase at the park are modern and luxurious, with their own private parking space, and are fully serviced, sitting on hardstanding pitches. A short walk from the park, guests will find Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, which has a range of popular fairground rides as well as go-karts and amusement arcades. Over the road there are more amusement arcades and a laser quest facility, while the nearby park offers climbing frames and adventure areas for children, as well as a pedalo lake.Many guests enjoy a walk along the seafront, which has a number of attractions including mini golf and a selection of parks. Some sections of the seafront have beautiful flowerbeds, while a number of pubs and restaurants can be found along the coast road, perfect for a refreshing drink or a bite to eat.Guests can walk into South Shields town centre easily from the park. The town has plenty of shops along with a great selection of bars and restaurants. Or head into Sunderland (about a 25-minute drive away) or Newcastle upon Tyne (about half an hour from this site by car). Or catch the ferry across to North Shields, where you will find a popular shopping outlet, loved both by locals and with tourists.If you want to get out into the countryside, to the north you'll find the Northumberland National Park and Kielder Forest Park, where plenty of outdoor activities can be enjoyed, as well as the Kielder Observatory.
