Maryport Caravan Site is a lovely holiday destination found in a secluded part of Dumfries and Galloway in the south west corner of Scotland.The park has 12 pitches for touring caravans, motorcaravans and tents, as well as a wide range of permanent holiday homes for hire, or these can be bought by guests looking to make Maryport their regular retreat. Hardstanding pitches are available at the park, while many of the pitches give guests superb views out onto the beach and across the sea.At this campsite you will find a small selection of facilities, including a laundrette and secure boat storage for boat owners.Maryport Caravan Site is in quite a remote location, on the far west of Scotland. The campsite itself is about a mile and a half from the nearest village, Drummore – it will take you around five minutes to drive there or just over half an hour to walk there. With shops, a post office and pubs, the village is rather handy to have so nearby.The nearest town is Stranraer, 18 miles away. It's just over half an hour away by car. Here you will find a wider range of shops and supermarkets, as well as the option for taking the ferry to Northern Ireland. Stranraer is also a great place to simply kick back and relax with the family, and enjoy a day discovering what makes the town so popular with tourists. There are several well regarded golf courses in the area, too.In addition, Stranraer enjoys good transport links with the rest of the area, with Ayr and Dumfries in particular being popular destinations, with trains running to both towns regularly. Guests happy to drive can also enjoy scenic, generally quiet roads across the region to reach these locations, while outdoor destinations such as Galloway Forest Park and the famous Scotland Outdoor Centre can also be driven to in around an hour.Visit Scotland on your camping, motorhome and caravan holidays and the country's natural beauty will surely seduce you. See the region on foot. Indeed this part of Scotland is rich with opportunities for walking and fishing – you never need to venture far from the park in search of peace and tranquillity. We've already mentioned Galloway Forest Park and this is a great destination, while its visitor centres will help you plan your time in the area. The forest park has a trio of visitor centres, Kirroughtree, Glentrool and Clatteringshaws. Kirroughtree Visitor Centre has a cafe, an adventure play area where the little ones can tire themselves out, a wild watch hide and more. If you love mountain biking, Glentrool Visitor Centre could be the place to go, lochside trials and more nestled in the heart of this forest. Or for breathtaking, panoramic views of the loch, visit Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre. What's more, Galloway Forest Park is the first Dark Sky Park in Scotland, making it one of the best places in Europe to stargaze.
