Location

The Compasses Park benefits from a position that is just off the main roads and is secluded enough to offer complete privacy. However, if you do wish to explore the area, you will be able to head out via car or public transport also. The park is right at the edge of the local canal, offering lovely waterside views, as well as being close to the Farnhurst Copse a local forest and beauty spot. This is just across from the Alford Bypass, the nearest main road down the A281. By following this road, you will easily be able to find your way over to the park by tracing the smaller roads round. 

The Local Area

Compasses Park is positioned close to some of Surrey's most stunning woodland areas, in particular, is the vast Sidney Wood, which you will find just outside the park, accessible through local roads just off the B2133 heading through Alford. 

Cranleigh

Referred to as the largest village in the UK, at Compasses Park, you are within a short distance of Cranleigh, which is a historic village. The village holds a lot of history, as far back as The Norman Conquests, so there are lots to explore if you love history. St Nicolas' Church is the oldest building in the village, having been built by the Norman Knights of William the Conqueror. The church's first building on the site dates from about 1170.

Cranleigh high street offers shoppers and visitors a bustling and thriving experience, with a selection of restaurants, coffee shops, and no more than two independent department stores that have been there for over two hundred years between them.

If you are craving some culture and the Arts, then Cranleigh Arts Centre must be on your list of places to visit. It is an active part of the village offering exhibitions, music, theatre and so much more. The Art house tea room is just next door, which is known for its speciality teas, coffees, and homemade cakes and snacks. Perfect combination!

If you like the simplicity of village life, but like the perks and convenience that come with a town, a visit to Cranleigh is a must where you can enjoy the best of both worlds. 

Guildford

This delightful town is just half an hour away from Compasses Park. If you are looking to explore further afield and sample the many activities that this town has to offer, you may need to plan more than just a day trip. 

Not many towns can say they have a castle, but Guildford can do just that! Dating back to 1066, Guildford Castle offers visitors the opportunity to climb the tower and enjoy 360-degree views of Guildford and afar. With beautiful grounds to slowly meander around, you can lose yourself for a couple of hours.

Guildford Museum is housed just next to the Castle and is free for visitors. There is so much to learn and see here, with changing exhibitions, a permanent exhibition of artefacts dating back to prehistoric times as well as artwork and celebrations of the town's history. 

Shopping is a must when you visit Guildford. There is every brand you can think of plus some new ones to try! From art collections to party dresses to designer perfumes, you will be able to shop until you drop!

Now is all that learning, shopping, and exploring have worked up an appetite, Guildford Town centre has a vast array of cafés, restaurants, and eateries. From Japanese, Chinese, to a good old burger, there will be something for everyone. 

Horsham

Horsham is a bustling market town with lots to offer visitors. The town dates to the 7th century, so for visitors with a love of history, w explore. The town boasts many shops, restaurants, and coffee houses, making it the ideal location for a day out, and there is plenty of parking in and around the shopping centres.

Horsham benefits from many transport links including no less than three train stations, three main A-roads, and is only 15 minutes away from Gatwick Airport. Residents living so close to this lively market town will undoubtedly have all the tools needed to explore far and wide. 

Horsham is home to Horsham Museum, a beautiful place to visit to learn about the history of the town in a visual and tactile way. There are many different parts of the museum to explore, including craft galleries, crime, and punishment of years gone by, and in-house art gallery as well as a costume gallery. 

He's behind you! A popular venue in Horsham is The Capitol Horsham, a purpose-built arts venue that showcases a sell-out pantomime each year as well as many other shows and performances all year round. If you are a fan of the arts and love to be entertained, keeping an eye on The Capitol events programme is a must.

St. Marys Church, which is the oldest remaining building in Horsham is a centre point for the community in Horsham. With an abundance of history and beautiful grounds, visitors will enjoy a tranquil walk around this calming place. 

Popular gardens to visit are Borde Hill, High Beeches Garden, Wakehurst Place run by Kew Gardens to name a few. There are at least fourteen walking routes in and around Horsham District which all take in the West Sussex countryside.
