Pack a picnic and your swimsuit, and take the short stroll down through the pretty village of Boswinger to Hemmick Beach, with its secluded coves and golden sand. Discover traditional Cornish life in neighbouring fishing villages, such as Gorran Haven and Mevagissey, where stone-cottage-lined-lanes snake down to picturesque, unspoilt harbours. Indulge in the local dishes: the seafood is, naturally, some of the freshest you’ll find (it doesn’t have to travel far from net to plate), and no trip is complete without a visit to a tea room for a traditional Cornish clotted cream tea.  The world-famous Eden Project is within easy reach, or head slightly further afield to St Ives.

For the more adventurous, there’s plenty to get stuck into. Explore the local area by foot, two wheels, horseback, or with a paddle! Bracing hikes along the rugged cliff paths are the perfect way to work off those scones, whilst taking in photo-worthy view after view, or hire a kayak or paddleboard to discover sheltered bays and secret caves. Newquay is famous for being a surfers’ paradise, and it’s worth the short trip north if you’re keen to catch some of the best waves in the country, but you’ll find plenty of places along the south coast to enjoy the gentler waters.
