Forres is one of Scotland's oldest towns and is abundant in beautiful scenery and architecture with its many impressive parks, gardens, and classically designed buildings which can be easily explored with a bus stop leading to the town being a four-minute walk from the park. The town is steeped in history and Castlehill in Forres is well-visited due to it being the location of the ruins to the castle in which Macbeth ruled over Moray in 1040.
Another historical monument within Forres is the Sueno's stone which shows intricate patterns inscribed on an enormous stone that has survived since the Scottish medieval era. Both historical monuments take five minutes to arrive at when driving from the park. Forres is home to two of the whiskey distilleries which belong to Scotland's Malt Whiskey trail meaning the distilleries are open to visitors. There is a range of sporting facilities within Forres to keep active with, this includes many football fields, a cricket pitch, two bowling rinks, swimming pool and fitness centre, squash courts, all-weather tennis courts, small bore rifle shooting, two 18-hole golf courses, and Forres House Community Centre, which caters for badminton, archery, gymnastics, bowling, and basketball.
